Quick answer
To ask a question about a PDF, add your own API key in Settings, add the PDF, type your question, and press Ask. The answer cites page numbers and says so when the document does not contain the answer.
Text from your PDF is sent straight to the AI provider you chose in Settings, using your own API key. It does not pass through iDuckPDF’s servers.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the answers?

They come from the document text, with page references. Like any AI answer, double-check anything important against the page.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Not yet. Scans have no text layer, and OCR is on the roadmap.

Where do my files go?

Most tools work entirely inside your browser tab, so the PDF is processed on your device and not uploaded to us. The AI tools are the exception: with your own key, the text of your PDF is sent to the AI provider you choose, and they say so before you start.

Do I need an account, and is there a limit?

No account, no watermark and no daily limit set by the site. Very large files are limited only by your device’s memory.
